If you are going to study or do an internship in Mexico, you will need a visum FM3.
Study Purposes
In order to obtain this visa for study purposes, you will need the following documents:
- A letter of the Dutch higher education institute in which you are enrolled which specifies the period that you will be studying in Mexico at a Mexican university
- A letter of the Mexican higher education institute that states that you have been accepted to study there for a specified period
- A copy of your (valid) passport
- A filled out and signed format requesting the visa, which can be obtained from the embassy
- Two passport-sized pictures
- You must be able to proof that you have sufficient funds for staying in Mexico, at least 500 euros per month. If you receive “studiefinanciering” or another scholarship, a letter from IBG or the organization providing the scholarship will be sufficient to prove financial solvability.
If this is not the case, your parents will have to write an official statement, legalized by a notary, that they will guarantee for the monthly amount. This means they first will have to write a statement themselves and then go to a notary with their identification so he can legalize their signatures. Copies of their identifications should be sent to the embassy as well together with the statement.
Once you completed the documents, send them to the Mexican Embassy in The Hague and if everything is alright you will be contacted when your visa is ready to pick it up. Please do not forget your passport when collecting your visa!
The complete package should be send to the embassy at least three weeks before leaving for Mexico in order to complete the process on time for your departure.
Internship purposes
In order to obtain this visa for internship purposes, you will need the following documents:
- A letter of the Dutch higher education institute in which you are enrolled which specifies the period that you will be an internship in Mexico and in which company or institution
- A letter (in Spanish) of the Mexican company that states that you have been accepted to study there for a specified period
Please note that the contract for the internship is not necessary, these two letters should be supplied to the embassy. - A copy of your (valid) passport
- A filled out and signed format requesting the visa, which can be obtained from the embassy
- Two passport-sized pictures
- The costs of the visa FM3 is 80 euros
- You must be able to proof that you have sufficient funds for staying in Mexico, at least 555 euros per month. If you receive “studiefinanciering” or another scholarship, a letter from IBG or the organization providing the scholarship will be sufficient to prove financial solvability.
If this is not the case, your parents will have to write an official statement, legalized by a notary, that they will guarantee for the monthly amount. The visa FM3 for internship purposes can only be extended for a period of six months. If you want to stay in Mexico after your internship, you will have to apply for an extention at the Mexican Migratory Service.
